DIY Procedure: MDK Wiring harness plug

Comments: You may have just saved my E46 convertible from the scrapyard. Its been to two separate garages that have failed to diagnose this issue. Its already had a secondhand good MDK, new CCV pipes, idle control valve, vac hoses, MAF sensor, intake boots and nothing has made a difference. Hoping this will. Excellently written and explained. Much appreciated.

Comments: Just picked up this e38, and the glove box handle is broken, door shut. Just looking around before I dig into it (and some exhaust work after getting p430/420 codes). Great site and tips, friend.

DIY Procedure: door locking microswitch

Comments: Great article. I am looking at it bc someone online suggested it may be the cause of my window stopping at times, while it goes up. Finger on switch to open; window stops along the way and goes down a bit by itself. Eventually it goes all the way up. Sometimes it works fine.

DIY Procedure: Window regulator rebuild

Comments: The Bumper Stop 51338257714 does not show up in any vendor catalogs as being a fit for the e38. Its listed as an e39 part. Nothing for an e38. This is a mistake, because it is an e38 part too. I installed it without removing the regulator by just positioning the pigtail in the bracket hole and lowering the window which rammed it into place.

Comments: Thank you sooo much for your write-up. In the write-up, you mention the placement of the cable sheath. My cable was outside the left side slot of the glove box. Tucked into place and ensured the sheath outside the collar. Glove box opens perfectly now. Thank you much, Alan

DIY Procedure: Window regulator repair.

Comments: Thanks for the link to your informative and valuable site! I'll probably give the regulator repair a try before buying an inferior aftermarket unit. While the Uro looked like a possibility, the reviews did seem pretty mixed. I only drive the car 1,000 miles per year, so the window doesn't have to work a lot. Oh, and too bad I didn't know about the silicone treatment for the tracks before yesterday. Oh well...Cheers,.

DIY Procedure: Alarm horn

Comments: My alarm horn (and flashing lights) work, but I am unable to DISARM. I've followed all instructions for using the key remote, which shuts the alarm off as well as the LED on the console, however, when attempting to start the car the alarm system restarts. Since the alarm sounds, I hesitate to replace it if there is another issue causing the problem. Note: doors, hood, trunk lid, sunroof, and windows are all closed. Thanks!

DIY Procedure: Bluetooth retrofit

Comments: Hi I want to update to Bluetooth if possible but your instructions don't match my car. I have Nokia mobile with bmw 6916909 module in the boot. This already has a 54 pin connector but if I try a tcu it blows the fuse in the boot. I assume the connections are different. Would you know the connection I need to make it work or have pin out diagram for it Thanks and I love the descriptions for diy you jave

Comments: Thank you for the in-depth guide on repairing the window motor. It helped me save some money and restore my old original motor to perfect working order. While getting the motor out was a bit finnicky, the rest of the procedure was a joy. Thanks!

Comments: After way too much time (web searching) & effort (attempting to free the ignition switch tumbler) I came across your GREAT site. At least I know what I'm dealing with due to your very comprehensive video on tumbler removal. You were correct that too many DIY videos out there are fairly vague for a job that seems to be at bit of hit or miss. Looking forward to finishing the job with clearer understanding. Book marking your site. Well Done.
